Shri Nathji shrine, this swarupa (form) for Shrad Purnima (festival of the full moon) commemorating the Ras Lila. Nathdwara, circa 1880-90. Opaque watercolour with gold and tin on wasli. 32.8 x 25.2cm

Shri Nathji wears peacock feathered mukuta (crown) and kachhani (banded multi-coloured skirt). During the Ras Lila Krishna has each gopi (cowherd girl) believe that she alone is his adored and adoring dance partner.
