Bhagavata Puran folio. Mewar, first half 17th century. Opaque watercolour on warqa. 19.5cm by 14cm
There is some disagreement regarding the likely date of folios from this bhavata Purana. On stylistic grounds it was first assigned a in around the first quarter of the 17th century, but amonst other elements the Jahangir period turban style seen here in one of the illustrations has since been said to indicate a date from around the second quarter.
