Portrait of Raj Singh of Bhiwai. Jaipur, circa 1780. Watercolour on untreated wasli. 17.5 x 13.3cm
This extremely fine and senstive portrait belongs to a type of which there are many in Jaipur City Palace where there are also others of this same person, Raj Singh of Bhiwai. This is evidence that Raj Singh must have been a favoured courtier in Jaipur, though since he has become largely unknown in its history. Bhiwai is a town in the district of Sikhat, Jaipur.
