Venugopala: Krishna sits on a lotus flower its stem emerging from water, an adoring cow at either side stand near the water's edge, beyond them pastureland and distant tree lined hills. To the reverse the stamp of Bikaner royal library and inscription that it was painted by Ustad Hasan, completed in the month of Chaitra, 1766. Opaque watercolour with gold on wasli. 28.4 x 20.6cm
According to Shanane Davis in The Bikaner School: Usta Artisans and Their Heritage, 2008, Hasan was active at the royal workshop between 1750-70.
